In this series of paintings, I was primarily thinking about the ebb and flow of population densities and the relationship between the individual and the crowd. Throughout the creation of this series, I adhered to self-imposed rules about the formation and size of the drawn marks, counting these as I worked, and then later referencing the sum in the title of each piece. These paintings consist of many alternating translucent layers of latex paint, grease pencil, polyester resin, and graphite and were constructed by finishing a painted layer and then sanding back through it to reveal portions of the layer below.
